ABOUT ERIN
Erin Lemberg Carson, Principal, Massachusetts Certified General Appraiser License #76108
Erin joined Backus Appraisals as a partner in 2016 after obtaining her trainee license from the state of Massachusetts. In 2022, she upgraded her license and is now a licensed Certified General Appraiser. She has over 20 years experience on Nantucket building, developing, buying and selling real estate. In addition, Erin is currently a Massachusetts Licensed Real Estate Broker and Construction Supervisor. Erin is well versed in local zoning and has developed great and long standing relationship(s) with the local broker/real estate community at large; subcontractors/builders/designers; and local attorneys that deal with not only transactional real estate but estate planning, land use issues, etc.
A former graduate of Nantucket High School, Erin obtained a B.A. from Connecticut College in Economics with a minor in Math.
Erin and her husband, Scott, are the proud parents of Camden, 12, and Keller, 10. They just welcomed, Bruce Lee, a yellow labrador retriever, to their family in 2022.

ABOUT STEVE
Steve Backus, Principal, Massachusetts Certified General Real Estate Appraiser License #369, SRA
Steve has been a Certified General Appraiser since 1992 and has completed over 10,000 appraisals during that time. He also holds his Salesperson license and has built 10 homes across the Cape & Islands. Steve has extensive experience in appraisals for refinance, divorce, estate planning, partnership buyouts and divorce and has established himself as the top appraiser in the area in both the residential and commercial sectors.
After setting numerous track and field records while attending Nauset Regional High School, Steve graduated from Occidental College with a B.A. in Math and a minor in Economics.
Steve and his wife, Kate, split their time between Brewster and Nantucket with their two daughters, Sasha & Sophia, and their chocolate lab, Reese.
